Hours: Variable hours, each placement is 10 – 15 Hours a week.
Pay Rate: £28 -£30

Operam Education Group are working in partnership with East Riding of Yorkshire authority to provide 1:1 tuition to pupils who are currently not able to access mainstream education, due to special needs, exclusion or other issues.
Tuition placements are typically between 10 – 15 hours per week between Monday and Friday of face to face tuition time, various schedules can be arranged. They are normally for at least 3 months and many run for considerably longer. You are not limited in the number of tutees you support, though tuition is typically done during the school day, so between the hours of 8.30 – 4.

The roles available will be specific pupils support for one identified pupil, who could age from 7 – 18 and will typically be to tutor English and Maths.

General Purpose of the role:
To provide tuition on a one to one basis in a face to face capacity as directed and according to computer led instruction and material. To record data, participate in evaluations and compose reports as directed on pupil progress and outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee the overall tutoring project for assigned pupils
Collect required data for project
Implement methods for data quality assurance
Write reports on implementation as needed with relevant data and information
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve pupil objectives
Adhere to all policies and protocols of the Operam Education Group
Act in a professional manner and with pupils and family/carers
Perform other duties, as assigned to fulfill the role successfully

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree or teaching qualification (desirable)
Teaching/tutoring /mentoring experience (desirable)
Experience working with children (essential)
GCSEs in English Language, Maths’ and a Science at Grade C or above (essential)
Driving license (desirable)

Technology:

Ability to use Microsoft Word in the creation, editing, and review of documents including formatting text and tables
Ability to use Microsoft Excel in the creation and use of spreadsheets including sorting and filtering data, using basic formulas, and creating graphs
Ability to use Microsoft Outlook for sending and receiving email, maintaining a work calendar, and scheduling appointments

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Organise data and accurately understand and report data
Engage pupils in creative and versatile teaching style
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Interact with pupils
Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
Prioritise, organise, and delegate assignments
Make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments
Analyse and solve problems

Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed in an agreed external location or at the pupils’ home under the supervision of the pupils’ responsible adult.

Whenever I have rung, including evenings and weekends, the phone has been answered and the process of finding replacement staff has started.

I have needed to make significant use of the services of Provide Education this academic year at both schools. This has included very long-term cover of a teacher (2 terms +), 3 to 4-week blocks, and ad hoc day to day cover of both teachers and support staff. Staff sent have taken an active role in the life of the school attending staff training sessions, meeting with parents and preparing for whole school audits etc. The supply staff have felt to be substantive members of staff. Whenever I have rung, including evenings and weekends, the phone has been answered and the process of finding replacement staff has started. I have been notified by text or call of the name of the person providing the cover before the work in school starts. An email has been sent through to myself and office staff with DBS details and a photograph of the member of staff attending. Provide have rung or emailed to check I am happy with the member of staff sent. You have also checked towards the end of the week, what cover in needed the following week. I have been especially impressed with the level of flexibility. On a number of occasions, we have been unsure about the length of the cover needed and you have ensured that the member of staff has been available beyond the initial timescale. This has enabled consistency for the children and helped to reassure parents that their children will not be taught by a range of staff. When one of the supply staff has been unable to attend, new cover has been arranged at short notice. On one occasion, the school wasn’t happy with the member of staff sent and she was quickly replaced by a teacher whose ethos much more closely matched the ethos of the school.
