Job Title: Year 2 Teaching Assistant (Morning Sessions)

Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Contract Type: Part-Time, Temporary (up until Summer 2024)

Hours: Mornings only (8.40-12)

Salary: £42 – £45

Role Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis, specifically for morning sessions. This temporary position will extend up until Summer 2024, providing an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the educational journey of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons that cater to the needs of Year 2 students.
  • Provide individualized support to students, including those with special educational needs, to ensure their academic progress and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Contribute to the planning and preparation of teaching materials and resources, adapting them as necessary to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Assist with classroom management and behavior support, promoting a positive and respectful learning atmosphere.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and carers, maintaining open communication channels to support the holistic development of each child.


  • Relevant experience working with children in an educational setting, ideally within Key Stage 1.
  • A passion for supporting the learning and development of young learners, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • An understanding of child safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare of all students.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education or childcare (desirable but not essential).
