Role Overview: As a Year 2 teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality education to students in their second year of primary school. Your role will involve planning and implementing engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and fostering a supportive learning environment. You will work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and personal development of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Delivery:
    • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that align with the Year 2 curriculum and educational objectives.
    • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  2. Student Assessment:
    • Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their learning journey.
    • Maintain accurate records of student achievement and progress, adhering to school policies and procedures.
  3. Differentiated Instruction:
    • Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of students, including those with special educational needs or English as an additional language (EAL).
  4. Classroom Management:
    • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and motivated to learn.
    • Establish clear expectations for behaviour and academic performance, consistently reinforcing positive behaviour management strategies.
  5. Parental Communication:
    • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress, academic achievements, and any concerns or issues that may arise.
    • Collaborate with parents to support student learning and development both inside and outside the classroom.
  6. Professional Development:
    • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching practice, stay abreast of educational trends and best practices, and meet professional development requirements.
  7. Team Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues, including other teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff, to plan and deliver cross-curricular activities and initiatives.
    • Participate in staff meetings, departmental meetings, and school events as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
  2. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification.
  3. Experience teaching in Key Stage 1, preferably in Year 2, is desirable but not essential.
  4. Strong knowledge of the Year 2 curriculum and educational frameworks.
  5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  6. Ability to engage and inspire young learners, fostering a love of learning.
  7. Understanding of effective pedagogical practices, assessment strategies, and behaviour management techniques.
