SEND Teaching Assistant, Wakefield

A specialist school in the Wakefield area are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant with experience providing behaviour support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This a full time position, working on an ongoing basis starting immediately.

Candidates must have previous experience supporting Primary or Secondary aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and an understanding around the complexities of SEMH and in supporting young people with behaviours that challenge. You will be passionate and dedicated to supporting the education of young people and be committed to making a real difference.

We are looking for candidates with:

• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Support Worker
• Maths and English Grade C at GCSE (or equivalent)
• Previous experience working with young people with SEND
• Experience using positive and effective behaviour management strategies (A Team Teach qualification is desired)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• DBS that is on the DBS update service (or be prepared to undertake a new DBS with Provide Education)
