Teaching Assistant required in Wakefield

The SEND Team at Provide Education are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant for a provision in Wakefield which caters for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

We are seeking a Teaching Assistant with previous experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who display challenging behaviours. This is a provision with pupils aged 11-18 years, who have a range or SEMH needs as well as ADHD and moderate learning difficulties. This a full time position, working on an ongoing basis to commence immediately. Team Teach certificate is highly desired for this role although not essential as training can be provided.

We are looking for candidates with prior experience managing and supporting children with SEMH needs. You will have an understanding around the complexities of SEMH and in supporting young people with behaviours that challenge. You will be passionate and dedicated to supporting the education of young people and be committed to making a real difference.

Candidates MUST have experience of working with children with a range of special educational needs.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Support Worker
  • Previous experience working with young people with SEND
  • Experience using positive and effective behaviour management strategies (A Team Teach qualification is desired)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • DBS that is on the DBS update service (or be prepared to undertake a new DBS with Provide Education)
