A special school in Rotherham are seeking a Support Worker on a part-time basis from February 2021.
The school is located in Kimberworth, and provides an alternative, highly sensory curriculum for pupils aged 3-19 with a range of additional needs.
The successful applicant will provide support for pupils with special educational needs, including:
As a Support Worker, you will ensure that the pupils can integrate as fully as possible in the activities as directed by class teachers. Duties will include running specific programmes and activities to assist the pupils’ individual learning and social needs. You will be responsible for implementing the targets on the pupils’ Individual Education Plan (IEP) in liaison with the class teachers and the SENCo.
This role will involve close communication with the school’s SENCo, Head Teacher, Class teachers, Deputy Head and other support staff, which may include outside agencies, e.g. Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists and medical staff.
Key Duties:
In addition to support for learning, this role may also include the personal care of pupils.
You will need to have prior experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs in an education or care setting, with the knowledge and understanding of the different social, cultural and physical needs of pupils. We would also like to hear from individuals with training in areas including Team Teach, Moving and Handling, Intensive Interaction, Makaton and/or PECs.
