Drive to get NQTs jobs after graduating
As students prepare to complete their courses, we’ve launched our biggest drive yet to get teaching graduates into immediate paid work with schools.
We’re currently visiting universities to sign up NQTs who want to get straight into paid employment - without waiting for the start of the Autumn term.
Our aim is to sign up more graduate teachers to summer term contracts where they can gain valuable work experience to kick-start their careers – like 22-year-old Megan Stephenson, who registered with us after graduating from Leeds Trinity University in 2015.
Megan, who was at work within days, said: “It’s a great way to get straight to work in different schools before getting a permanent job in one. It gives you more experience in the classroom before taking on your own class and it’s also a good way of finding out more about schools in the area before applying to work in one.
“It was definitely the right decision to gain experience as a supply teacher when I graduated as I now have a lot more confidence in the classroom.”
All new teachers that sign up with Provide Education receive ongoing support and help with applications and interviews, and all essential paperwork and vetting procedures are carried out during a face to face meeting.
Director of Provide Education Barry Simmons said: “Supply teaching can provide valuable experience for many graduates before they take up a permanent post in September, and demand from schools is high during the summer term as they are so busy dealing with exams.”
